An Introduction to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

      Thursday, 06 July 2023
      09:30 - 12:00

This course is designed to help delegates get an understanding of how to promote equality, tackle discrimination and foster positive relationships between diverse groups in the workplace.
      What will the course cover?
      • What is equality, diversity and inclusion and why it matters
      • Language, behaviour, bias and microaggression
      • What to consider when developing an EDI Strategy/ action plan.

Every school has a duty as an employer to ensure it meets its obligations under the Equality Act at every stage of the employment process.  Part of that duty is ensuring that all employees promote and support equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Ideal for all staff, this course provides delegates with an understanding of how the values, opinions and prejudices of an individual can influence those around them, and how this can lead to discrimination.

The course introduces the Equality Act 2010 and how to avoid discrimination through your behaviours, language, attitudes, conscious and unconscious bias and actions.

The learning package covers all areas of equality legislation, policies, processes, procedures, best practice, and guide to developing an EDI Strategy/action plan.

Delivery is through a mixture of methods and involves delegates in group exercises and discussions. Training is practical and interactive.

Delegates will gain an understanding of:

      • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and the benefits of diversity in the workplace
      • The different types of discrimination, unconscious bias, and inappropriate language
      • Key components of an EDI Strategy

      Who will benefit from attending?

This session is for everyone as we all have the responsibility for promoting equality and diversity but especially key for those who have line management responsibility.
